One of Nova Scotia's beautiful little orchids; they are to be discovered in acidic bogs, of which, there are any number in Nova Scotia, some, right off the main highways. The one and half inch flower is a brilliant pink, in addition to having two petals this little beauty has three sepals (same color as, and would be taken by the uninitiated, as petals). The upper most petal of the two is bearded. The flowers open sequentially up the leafless stalk. The leaves are grass like and are basal. The plants, at least the ones I have seen, do not seem to stretch more than six inches.
