Blupete's Weekly Commentary

May 10th, 1998.

"Statistics."

Statistics don't lie, it's just that most variables can show either an upward trend or a downward trend, depending on the base year chosen. As for the subject generally: it is to be expected that all types of events or stories exist in the general population, everything you might imagine, in one proportion or another. In a population which stretches into the millions, it should not be surprising that one can find something out of the ordinary; the point is, however, when dealing with large numbers, uncommon events can strike a person as commonplace, especially when gathered up and dished out together.
